Master Tam along with his students, Sabum Ray, Sabum Alan, Jacek, Kei, Keffe and Colin had some hands on grappling work and self-defense training by Sensei Richard Norton.
It was Valentine Day & Chinese New Year Eve and there is nothing else in our mind but eagerly we all woke up and looked forward to an interesting training with Richard Norton. Sensei Norton was so kind to take a day off from his movie shooting and humbly ran full day of training with us together with some other Judo, Ju-Jitsu and Brazilian Jujitsu and MMA martial artists at the Burwood PCYC.
Sensei Norton is really down to earth person and shared with us his knowledge in martial arts. The training began at 9.30am with stand-up self defense techniques. We were all shown simple and straight forward and practical defense move.
After a BBQ lunch we continue ground work techniques. It was something different for students who have never been on the ground fighting. The training was interesting and we had "a go" with different martial arts students, wrapping up the workshop at about 4pm.
At conclusion of the workshop we all wish the day ran longer. For those who missed this session...all we can say is...you missed it. Hopefully Sensei Norton will come by again from USA.

More photos will be posted to gallery soon.
Congratulations Master Tam for your appointment as ITF Technical and Education Committee Member.
Master Tam along with Master Hwang Su Il from Japan, Senior Master Gary Miller from UK and Mr. Elefterios Polydoru from Cyprus were appointed under ITF Technical Chairman Senior Master Hwang Ho Yong. Master Tam unfortunately was unable to be present at the last World Championship held in St. Petersburgh for the announcement.

13th December 2009 was our once a year combined grading with all our dojang in NSW. We also had our annual presentation award and Christmas luncheon.
All students were eager for the grading and arrived early at the Burwood dojang though some were very nervous though. The students gained more confidence after the seniors belts went onto the mats to perform their grading routine. The black belt grading students received great support from their peers and parents and were cheered on by all during their breaking and sparring sessions.

1st Grandmaster Rhee Seminar in Perth 2nd & 3rd December 2009

Tam`s Budo students attended a very memorable seminar by the most senior ITF member in the world. He was assisted by Master Andrew Rhee along with Senior Master Master Linda, Masters Tam & Wong. The students enjoyed the seminar very much especially little Lucas Dedes who was lucky to received Grandmaster Rhee`s personally signed poster at the banquet dinner. Our 1st Grandmaster Rhee was so impressed with our club shirt the he asked for one and Mr. Dedes generously presented him one with his own. The seminar was so well received by all ITF students that Grandmaster have a second thought of returning for further seminar.....maybe Sydney!!
Selection for Junior World Championship and Australian ITF National Championship 6 & 6th December 2009
One of our top performer of the day was Nicholas Dang. He fought his way into the final and had a great match with some very experience exponents. With smart moves and precise scoring techniques, Nicholas tally up ahead in points of his opponents and made it to the final. Beating his last opponent was one of his greatest achievement in his TKD record. Well done Nicholas for being selected to represent Australia in the next Junior World Championship in Belarus September 2010.
Showing plenty of guts was none other then Musk Chow. She has always taken on the boys in sparring in the non-Tam`s Budo tournament. She said that she has no problem with it!!
Our other competitors were all well deserved a big congratulations for taking the big effort and great sportsmanship and performance at the National Championship.
