What is TaekwonKing?
Tam's Budo Academy under the guidance of Sahyun Tam Fook Chee has for a long time been dedicated to the
advancement and promotion of ITF Taekwon-Do. TK-1 is a open belt sparring system where competitors are
categorised on weight only, the bout consists of 3 x 3 minute rounds with 1 minute rest in between rounds.
The electronic scoring system displayed the real time score and round time making the sparring exciting for
spectators as well as providing a new strategic dimension for competitors and coaches. We are very proud that we can announce that ITF now lead the world in electronic scoring and tournament technology.
TK-1 & Sydney International Open Taekwon-Do Tournament Report
The 17th of April 2005 will be remembered as a historic day for ITF with the launch of the TK-1 circuit. Competitors from all over the world travelled
to Australia to compete and witness this historic event. It was also an important day for ITF because TK-1 also saw the launch of it's its first spectator based electronic scoring system.
The 17th of April also saw our regular championships break new records for events and numbers, our high tech power breaking
and special technique equipment have been encouraging hard core sparring and patterns competitors to add these two new events to their tournament experience.
Our tournaments are becoming very popular with other stylists with many of them impressed with our organisation, professionalism and technology.
To make them feel welcome we created a special event for non ITF patterns (Kata) called creative patterns this also gives our ITF colleagues an opportunity to show off
some of their other skills. Another event we have added is self defence, a regular team from the Kempo Karate group (Ranked 3rd in the world) are regular visitors to our tournaments, they make a regular worthy opponent for our ITF teams.
Special attention is always paid to the juniors and children competitors. All Child and Junior competitors receive competitors medals. A friendly and positive environment promotes dedication to training and competition.
Our tournaments are popular and famous amongst other martial arts styles.
The junior ITF practitioners are never far from our attention at the championships. Our objective is to make their tournament and training experience positive and productive. All junior competitors receive a medal for competing,
we even have specially constructed special techniques and power breaking equipment for the juniors.
Leadership by example
Sahyun Tam Fook Chee is never far from the action whether it be at the
veterans world championships or planning ITF's next technological leap
forward, his tireless vision and work in promoting ITF has seen following
world firsts at his tournaments.

ITF leads the way
It's often stated that true success is the ability to influence someone or change the way they do things,
another proud moment for the ITF is the worlds oldest martial art Pankration adopting modified ITF electronic
scoring technology as it's official scoring system. We currently boast many Karate, grappling and sporting
organisations using ITF technology as their preferred scoring system.
Pictured below, the most advanced special technique machine in the world.
Adjustable from 1.8m to 3.5 m. Supplied by TK-1 sponsor "ProBudo" it uses state of the art electronic sensing
but still makes sure that the competitor gets the correct feeling on impact.(20.00mm thick timber board)
Developed by ITF practitioners for ITF tournaments this state of the art ITF scoring system
is now being modified for many other Martial Arts and Sports. Pictured below, the ITF developed scoring system
makes it's debut at the recent Junior Pankration titles in Sydney, Australia.
